A WORD FROM ELDORADO WAYNE

By Eldorado Wayne

As President of the Powder Creek Cowboys let me be the first to welcome you to our little slice of cowboy heaven. The Powder Creek Cowboys have managed to construct one of the finest cowboy shooting parks in the territory. This facility is totally dedicated to creating the best Cowboy Action Shooting experience one can achieve. If you enjoy anything about the old west then this is the place to come. If you enjoy old west history, the guns, cowboy dress, & spending time with the friendliest bunch of cowhands you will ever meet, then Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) is the game for you. The place to find this adventure is with the Powder Creek Cowboys.

Looking back, I remember the days when I first started exploring CAS and quite honestly, I was intimidated. Just the thought of purchasing the guns and gear was overwhelming. Toss in joining a bunch of folks I didn’t know, the strong potential of embarrassing myself, and frankly I had my doubts. Well let me assure you, I probably did embarrass myself, but I did it with a very large smile on my face. From the first day I set foot on a cowboy range I can honestly say I have never had more fun. Looking back I know I have learned more about safe gun handling, history of the old west, guns, and clothing than I ever imagined. I actually have become a better shooter because of the time I have spent on a CAS range. So don’t let the unknown fears keep you from joining in on the fun.

The Powder Creek Cowboys will welcome you around the campfire and will make certain that you feel comfortable. We will take the time to show you how to play the game of CAS and even provide you with the equipment you do not have yet. We have all had to start from scratch and putting it all together takes some time. So, whether a new shooter or seasoned, come on out and join the Powder Creek Cowboys for the Cowboy Action Shooting experience. We shoot on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays as well as every 4th Wednesday. We reserve the 4th Wednesday for our more informal “Work Shirkers Shoot”. Yes, we actually encourage you to forget about work and come out once a month during the week. This is a great opportunity for those that are retired or their work schedule permits a day off in the middle of the week.

Our gates open at 8:30 and we begin all events with a mandatory safety meeting at 9:30 a.m. I en-courage you not to make the most common mistake for not getting involved in Cowboy Action Shooting, waiting too long. Come on out, bring what cowboy gear you have, borrow what you need from us that have too much. This will be the most fun a cowboy can have with his or her boots on.
