RANGE MASTER RAMBLINGS

Fall’s a Comin’

August is finally gone and we can look to the cooler days of fall, just around the corner. With fall comes all of those great local CAS shoots to attend. T-Town, The Kansas State Match, Boarder Wars, The Missouri State Match, all lie ahead of us before the snow starts to fly. It's been a great year for the Powder Creek Cowboys and all the success we have celebrated at our range. We now have the largest membership at 130+, another successful POP, and of course being awarded the state match in 2011. All of this due to the hard work of so many club members that come out to see that matches are a success and support the other clubs in the region.

End of Trail Comes to Kansas

EOT 2010 at Powder Creek was enjoyed by many! I don’t think I heard one discouraging word about those up close and personal targets. The only one I witnessed kicking around in the dirt was Hondo Tucker as he had to make so darn many clean match trophies for those three days we shot Powder Creek EOT.

REMINDER: September & October

We are trying to support the local food pantries so bring a couple of non-perishable items to each match to help them out. It still cost you $10 to shoot but your generosity sure helps some folks that have an empty chuck wagon right now. Some items they like to see are:

Peanut Butter
Jelly
Canned Fruit
Miscellaneous Beans
Spaghetti
Tomato Products
Pancake Mix
Syrup
Hearty Canned Soups
Hamburger Helper Products

This Month's Shoots:

This month Boss Spearman & Charlie Waite bring some cattle through our “Open Range”. Now they’re Free Grazers’ but we don’t mind them a bit. Out neighbor Baxter does however. So come out and help us get rid of Baxter and his hired gun hands during September.

Saturday,  September 11,  2nd Saturday 10:00 am

The ladies will set up and serve lunch for $5.00 on September 11th. Enjoy the meals while you can as October is the last month they will serve lunch for 2010.

Wednesday, September 22, Work Shirker Wednesday 10:00 am
Saturday September 25, 4th Saturday 10:00 am

Clean Match Plaques for August

Hondo is no longer bored and wishes y'all throw a round in the dirt more often. Lots of clean shooters this month: Cole Starrherst; Digger John; Lightning Judd; Shootin Newton; Tame Bill; Buffalo Phil; Dusty; Helza Commen; Kansas City Kid; Lit Rhodes; Reuben McCoy Rankin; Whiskey Ed; Asa Smith; Chantilly; Doc Hurd; Eldorado Wayne; Goldie Lu; Quirt Dunn; Shawnee; Gambler; Slow Poke; Windy City Joe

Work Day

The range is still looking good but we need to start getting it ready for winter. We will have a work day on September 18th so if you can come out and give us a hand at prepping the range it would be great. An 8:00-Noon work day should do the trick. We couldn't do it without all of the volunteers. Thanks for all you do when work shows up.
